The Party Pony is giving books away

My friend Jenny  yes I am extremely jealous that she is called Jenny

Anyway Jenny is giving away some books.

You should go over to her blog and try to win them.

Plus you should include reading her blog as part of your daily healthy diet.
She might just be as weird as I am.

Thank you!

Shit I have to go back to work and I hate Shane from the walking dead

Well I have to go back to work today.
My nice week long break is over.
I can not tell you how hard it was to get up this morning and put on something other then jeans.

Another reason it was so hard is because The Walking Dead really was intense and I had a hard time going to sleep after watching it.

*******SPOILER ALERT*********

So Dale kind of sort of forced poor Glenn to tell the gang that Hershel and his people are keeping walkers in the barn.
I guess Glenn won't be getting laid anytime soon because Maggie is pissed!
Shane is a freaking lunatic and starts going crazy about the close proximity of the barn to their camp.
Rick says he wants to speak to Hershel before they just go all Call of Duty on the barn zombies
Hershel pretty much says get the fuck of my property if you have a problem with my zombie collection.
Rick tells him Lori is pregnant so they need to stay for the baby's safety.
He then refers to Glenn as the Asian boy and tells Maggie he can't stay and she needs to get over it.
She tells him he is a hypocrite jackass who is worried about killing zombies because they are people but will send real people out to the dangerous world outside of their farm.
I love Daryl more and more each episode and I hate Shane more and more each episode.
Daryl is like a ray of hope. Believing that Sophia will be found safe and sound.
Even her own mother is starting to believe that this is not true but she ends up agreeing with Daryl probably because she want to have sex with him........or maybe its just me.
Andrea continues to make me wish for her swift and painful death.
Although since she had sex with Shane she isn't all "oh I want to be dead" she is still annoying.
Her and Shane should just go away together.
Rick tells Shane that Lori is pregnant and of course Shane thinks its his.
Lori tells him to get over it because either way they will never be together.
Shane is a giant douche bag!
Dale steals all of the guns.....not sure why
He takes them into the woods but creepy Shane followed him.
They have words and oh how I wish Dale had the balls to just shoot him but he doesn't.
Shane is a ticking time bomb of emotion.

Maggie isn't mad so I guess Glenn will be getting laid again.....good for him.
Hershel comes and asks for Rick's help with something.
What could it me?
Zombie wrangling!
Really dude just kill the damn things
But no Hershel has a soft spot for stray zombies or he needs a housewife and mechanic to finish his collection.

Shane the lunatic starts to rally the camp.
He starts handing out guns even to little Carl until Lori gets in the way
God would I wouldn't give for Lori to punch him in the face.

Rick and Hershel are spotted by the T Dog with their new pet zombies
Guess what happens.........Shane gets mad
Oh my God how out of character for him

He starts telling Hershel that these are not people and to prove his point he starts shooting the female zombie.
Finally he shoots it in the head and then goes bat shit crazy breaking the locks on the barn.
I was praying that he would just get ripped apart but no he just starts shooting.
Annoying Andrea joins him.....
then everyone does cause there pretty much is not choice at that point.
In the end Hershel and his people are crying and devastated.
These were their people.
neighbors
family members
friends
and there they are strewn about in the dirt
in front of the open barn doors.
Guns are lowered
but wait is that another one?
I think I hear that moaning zombie sound.
Yes there is one coming out and who should it be?
Sophia!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Yes
Carol is screaming her poor daughters name while everyone else just stares.
Carl is very upset and Lori tells him to look away
No one moves as she gets closer and closer.
Finally Rick walks up to her and puts a bullet into her brain.

The end
until February 12th......I can not wait!

I do still read......

I feel like it has been FOREVER since I have talked about reading.

Today feel like a good day to change that.
I have actually read a ton lately here are a few

The Night Circus
by Erin Morgenstern

Book Description from Amazon
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

I read this book for my bookclub. It was good. I hated the end with a burning passion. I think the characters could have been developed way better. I also think it would have made an awesome series.
I would recommend this book if you are reading simply for the joy of reading....as I often do.
If you are reading it for a book club where you are going to tear it apart and analyze it then its not that great.

Dark Corners
By Liz Schulte

Book Description from Barnes and Noble
Ella Reynolds knew from the first moment she walked into the old house someone or something was watching her. Waiting. Her husband's violent murder sent her spiraling into a world of grief and isolation, but Ella isn't alone. Who or what is responsible for her husband's death is still with her. Darkness has engulfed the past year of Ella's life. Everyday reality slips a little more between her fingers as she struggles to break free from her memories. She must look deeper into her past as well as the present to discover truth of her husband's homicide. A string of uncanny events takes place and practical explanations run thin as Ella follows the terrifying road to closure. As the past and present come to a head, Ella must decipher who or what the murderer is before it takes her as well.

Liz is my blog and Facebook friend. Her blog is http://www.lizschulte.com/. If you do not already follow you should. She is very funny and her posts are always very cool.
I greatly enjoyed this book. I found it to be very suspenseful and creepy which are two of my favorite things! The writing is very good. I found myself very often not being able to put the book down. I also really enjoyed the paranormal edge the book had which set it apart from just an ordinary thriller/crime/murder type suspense book.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers.

The House on the Corner
By Andrew Leon

Book Description from Barnes and Noble
Three siblings have their plans for the summer ruined as they move across country as soon as school is out. The new house has been mostly vacant for the previous two decades, when the previous owners mysteriously vanished. The kids in the neighborhood believe the house is haunted, and even the adults can't deny that strange things happen around the creepy, old house on the corner. The Howards think these are no more than stories springing from overactive imaginations. That is until they discover a cache of ancient weapons. And what does the crazy old man across the street with his dire warnings have to do with it? Tom, Sam, and Ruth are convinced that things are anything but normal.

All children dream the improbable; some dream the impossible. What happens when three children stumble into the impossible? Will it bring them together, or will it tear them apart?

Andrew happens to be one of my first blog friends. He often wishes he could be my bbf instead of Stacey. And although there is no replacing Stacey he is still one of my favorite blogs. Anyway Andrew's blog is http://strangepegs.blogspot.com/. He always has very interesting thought provoking posts so if you do not already follow him you should check it out. So The House Around the Corner is young adult fiction. It is a great story. Very imaginative. The dialogue between the kids is very realistic. I was worried about reading Andrew's book because I knew I would eventually have to review it and I did not want to hurt him if I did not like it. But in the end I found the story to be very......magical. It brought me back to my youth. It was funny and had an element of adventure which is how I envision my childhood. I was bothered somewhat at one part in the story with how the adults behaved which I thought was a bit odd from their behavior earlier in the book but other then that I enjoyed it. My son also read this book which I thought would be a good idea being that it is geared for his age. He also liked it. He thought the siblings were really funny and he liked the back and forth conversations they had. He also liked the references to Star Wars....well because he loves Star Wars.
I would recommend this book to anyone who like young adult fiction.

Juliet
By Anne Fortier

Book Description from Good Reads

When Julie Jacobs inherits a key to a safety-deposit box in Siena, Italy, she is told that it will lead her to an old family treasure. Soon she is launched on a winding and perilous journey into the history of her ancestor Giulietta, whose legendary love for a young man named Romeo rocked the foundations of medieval Siena. As Julie crosses paths with the descendants of the families immortalized in Shakespeare’s unforgettable blood feud, she begins to realize that the notorious curse—“A plague on both your houses!”—is still at work, and that she is the next target. It seems that the only one who can save Julie from her fate is Romeo—but where is he?

I enjoyed this book but the back and forth between time started to get on my nerves.
This did not happen when I read Samantha Sotto's book Before Ever After.
I don't know why it bothered me so much but if it weren't for the fact that I loved that the book was set it Siena, Italy.... which is beautiful I probably would have put the book down. I really really really did not like the character of Janice who is Julie's twin sister. I found her to be annoying and obnoxious and I cringed every time she was on the page. I just wanted her to go away. The story is well written and other then Janice the characters are likable. The romance aspect of the book is sweet but I think if you like the Dan Brown type books you could probably get past the romance and enjoy the historical mystery aspect.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes either romance or
historical fiction/historical mystery.

Well that is all I have for today folks.
Have a great weekend and as always if there are any books out there that you really loved I always enjoy a good book recommendation!

How long is too long?

This is not a writing post.
Although that is also a good question.
This is a post about my hair.
My very sweet....ahem.....sister Judy offered to pay for me to get a haircut.
She often tells me that I need one and that it is far too long.
I kind of like my hair and its curly so I will not cut it short.
My reason for this is it always ends up looking like a helmet.
Truth be told I really do not care what my sister thinks or anyone else for that matter......
But it made me wonder.....how long is too long?
And am I too old (39) for long hair?

Exhibit A: Front view

Exhibit B: Side view
I don't think it looks bad.....maybe a little long but hair cuts are expensive!

I really think its all about whether you look good with long hair.
Is your hair nice and thick?
I think as you age and your hair gets thinner its probably a good idea to cut it.
Mine is not to that point yet.
I don't think I would keep my hair long if it was gray.
Although I don't think I will ever let my hair go gray......
So that's a non issue.
Is it fair to put an age on style?
I don't think women my age should wear mini skirts.
Maybe its because I have a daughter who will be turning 20 very soon and I certainly don't want to dress like her......well that's not completely true but certain clothes I think should be for the young.
So maybe this should apply to hair length as well?
I am not sure.

I really do not like to be told how I can and cannot wear my hair.
Sometimes this stubbornness blinds me to the truth.
Maybe I do need a haircut.
Maybe Judy is right.
Maybe I am too old for hair this long.
Or maybe she is just a giant pain in the ass big sister.

What do you think my fine friends.......how long is too long and how old is too old?

Ringtones

Maybe its the immature side of me but I just love ringtones.

I download them all the time picking out special ones for certain people in my contact list.
I just assumed everyone also thinks this is cool but....
I was texting my brother Peter yesterday it went something like this

Obviously Peter does not see the awesomeness of a personalized ring tone.
Who wouldn't want the Boondock Saints prayer as the tone that plays when you call?

Here are some of my other ringtone choices

My brother Michael - Fat guy in a little coat
Amber - Family Guy Stewie saying Mom Mom Mommy
My sister Judy - Supernatural actors saying pick up the phone.....cause thats what she always says.
When I get a text it plays Pam from Trueblood saying Blah Blah Vampire Emergency Blah
When my husband calls it plays the Star Wars Darth Vadar theme
General calls play the music from Harry Potter

I wanted to include all of the ringtones but yet again blogger epically fails by not allowing you to include sound clips to blog posts.

How about you.....do you use special ringtones for people or are you more in agreement with my little brother?

I answer your hate mail

So apparently my post about Joe Paterno sparked some serious hate.

I received a few emails about how disgusting I am and that I am a terrible mother.
I will not post the emails in their entirety as some of them were very lengthy....you know who you are.
Instead I will just answer some of the (sort of) questions posed.

Let me begin by saying that in the end they fired Joe Pa.
I forced myself to read the grand jury report and I am sick to my stomach.
I think we should be focusing on him and his victims.
We should have been calling for his head instead of Joe's.
People have been saying if you read the grand jury report you will feel different about Joe Paterno.
Well I read it and I don't.
I still think that the media and others are persecuting him for handling a very disgusting situation incorrectly.
I still do not believe he should have been the focus of the media.
There is an animal out on $100,000 bail right now that should be and should have been their focus.

So bring on the hate.........

from jolly_ann@xxxxxxxxx.net
How can you support a child molester? I will never read your blog again.

Well jolly_ann.....by the way nice name. It suits you. I am not supporting a child molester. Please follow the story and get your facts straight and then I would be happy to have an intelligent conversation with you.

from kmathews71@xxxxxxx.com
How would you feel if this was your child? Your a disgrace as a mother.

Well kmathews71 let me start off by saying it is you are or you're not your. If this was my child I would be devastated.  I will say that I would be calling for the head (literally) of Sandusky. He would be my focus because he is the animal who committed these crimes. I would be horrified by the fact that he is out on bail and no one seems to give a shit because we are too worried about whether or not the background players (who are more famous) are getting fired. Actually I would probably take that opportunity to sneak in while no one is looking and kill him after cutting off his penis and shoving it down his throat.

from will_a_be@xxxxxxxxxxxx.com
Joe Paterno new what was happening and did not tell anyone. He is just as guilty and you are as ignorant as your daughter.

Well will_a_be you apparently do not know how to spell. Its knew not new.....idiot. Oh sorry was that ignorant? So you are saying that now if I know of a crime I am just as guilty as the person committing it? Well fuck we are all in a lot of trouble then. I can not imagine there are not a ton of people out there who know something or knew something that they wish they would have done more about. Maybe its that you know your friend is being abused by her husband. Or a child is being neglected. Or your co worker is cheating on their taxes. I think we could use this as a lesson and look inside ourselves and really see how many of us are in a position to judge someone else for handling a very bad situation wrong.

Thats all I have the patience to share......

I would like to say to the students of Penn State.
Don't react the way you did last night.
I have never heard of a riot that ended in a resolution that made any group happy.
Project your frustration and disappointment in a way that gets positive attention.
Then you will be heard.
Handle yourselves intelligently and people will hear you.
Focus on THON.
For those of you who do not know what THON is........(this is from their website thon.org)
Welcome to THON.org, the online home of the largest student-run philanthropy in the world! The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately referred to as THON, is excited to have you join us in our fight to conquer childhood cancer.
In 1973, a small group of dedicated Penn State students held our first Dance Marathon. That year, 39 dancer couples participated and raised $2,000. Since then, THON’s presence in the Penn State community has grown exponentially. THON now has over 15,000 student volunteers, 700 dancers, and has raised more than $78 million, benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
THON is now a year-long effort that raises funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. With the support of students from all across the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and THON Alumni all around the world, we continue to make great strides towards finding a cure for all childhood cancers!
Thank you for your interest in learning more about THON. Together, we’ll make a difference in the life of a child.
“When they say, ‘We Are Penn State,’ this is what they are talking about.” - Joe Paterno

Thank you and I look forward to reading and responding to your hate mail in the future.

The Penn State Scandal

Some of you may know that my darling daughter is a sophomore at Penn State University.

I will admit to not watching/reading much on the story.
Any information I have is from bits and pieces I have seen on the news or heard on the radio.
So these words are just my opinion gathered from my limited knowledge.
I would  like to say that I think the fact that the media is focusing so much on Joe Paterno is a bit disheartening. I am also bothered by the fact that all of a sudden the sports analyst and sports writers are now the morality police.
Really?
I think I will get my moral opinions from people who do not laud every sunday players who have been accused and or convicted of committing crimes.
Thank you very much!

I think what Joe Paterno did is morally wrong.
But should he be fired for that?
I don't think so.
I think it is a scary thought that we are going to call for peoples terminations because we don't like the way they handled something morally.
I personally think that a lot of us are in trouble if this becomes a common practice.

I  think the news media is morally reprehensible for putting all of their focus on Joe Paterno and not focusing on the children who were abused and the man who actually abused them.

I saw a report of a rally held last night on Joe Pa's front lawn.
The reporter indicated that he thought the "kids" were ignorant and should be ashamed.
Here is what I think......
If you want the "kids" to stop rally in support of Joe then stop putting all of the focus on Joe.
You don't see these "kids" standing on Sandusky's lawn supporting him.
So stop bashing them and calling them ignorant and childish.
The way they see it is Joe did not commit a crime so why is he being treated like a criminal?

If the news stories that I have read/seen are correct then an assistant came to Joe and told him that he saw Sandusky in the shower with a boy and the assistant did not know if that was inappropriate.
Joe then reported what the assistant told him to the head of athletics.
I also read that the police were told and investigated the report in 1998.
It was brought to the district attorney at the time and he did not pursue charges.
So if the police did not do anything about this then why are we complaining about Joe not doing anything.

Someone commented on my Facebook that I should read the grand jury transcripts.
I say thanks but no thanks.
I have no interest in reading the gory details.
Not because I don't care but because reading the explicit details of child abuse is not of interest to me.

So thats what I think.
I think this situation was handled terribly.
Not only by Penn State but also apparently by the police and the district attorney at the time.
I don't however think that worrying about whether Joe Paterno should be fired or not should be our focus.

Once Upon a Time there was the Walking Dead

I watch two shows on Sunday nights.
Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead.
These shows could not possibly be any more different.
Last night I realized how creepy it was to go from Storybrooke, Maine
the quaint little town in Once Upon a Time.
Where all the characters from your favorite fairytale characters live.
Only they don't know they are fairytale characters because of a curse put on them by the evil queen.
to end up in the zombie apocalypse world of The Walking Dead.
Where the characters are living in a nightmare!

Both shows are really great....although I do like The Walking Dead just a smidgen more.
Which brings me to my summary of last nights episode.....
*********Spoiler Alert**********
Last night on The Walking Dead
We found Carl on the mend.
The rest of the group made it to the farm and began to set up camp.
Doctor Hershel tells Rick that his people can not stay, that after Carl is better they have to leave.
While getting water from a well Dale and T-Dog discover a walker all bloated and gross at the bottom.
The group decides that it would be best not to shoot it because the blood will get into the water and contaminate it.
They try to lure it with ham but realize that they need live bait.
Glenn is reluctantly lowered into the well.
He needs to get a rope around the walker so they can haul it up and kill it.
Needless to say something goes wrong and Glenn is dropped too close but he is able to get the rope around its neck and is hauled up before being bitten.
Unfortunately the thing very grossly rips in half and the legs end other gooey stuff ends up in the well.
Guess they won't be using that well anymore.
Oh and T-Dog bashes the damn things head in.....ewwww!

Glenn and Maggie head to town to go to the Pharmacy to gather some medication.
Lori has asked him to try and locate a pregnancy test. After finding it he tries to hide it from Maggie and she thinks he is grabbing condoms.
She says she would like to have sex with him and so she takes off her clothes.

Daryl is off searching for Sophia.
It was decided that Rick is too weak after giving all that blood and Shane is still hurt from his mission to get the equipment for Carl's surgery.
So Daryl is out searching and he happens upon an abandoned house.
He sees traces of someone who may have hidden there recently so he starts calling out for Sophia.
He spots a Cherokee Rose growing in the field.
he picks it and gives it to Carol and tells her the lovely story of the Cherokee Rose....who knew he could be so sweet?

Rick begs Dr. Hershel to let them stay.
He tells him he has no idea what its like out there.
Dr. Hershel tells him he will consider it.

Lori goes out into the field and pees on the pregnancy test.
The test reads positive!

dun dun duh!

Well I hope you all have a Magical Monday!

Five Creepy Things That Aren't Meant To Be Creepy

I love to watch television as you all are well aware.
While watching the other night a McDonald's commercial came on.
Obviously Ronald is a clown so hello creepy but I am sure he doesn't mean to be.
So I stated thinking about things that I think are creepy but that maybe aren't meant to be.
Here are my top five things in no particular order.....

The Burger King - So creepy. With the giant plastic head and the molded creepy smile. Yikes! I get chills just thinking about it. The commercial where the guy wakes up and the Burger King is in his bed gives me nightmares!

Facebook Friend Requests - As a rule I do not accept friend requests from people I do not know. And when I say "know" I mean "like". I do not see a point in being Facebook friends with people I would not actually be friends with. Occasionally I will get a friend request from a complete stranger. This is extremely creepy. And I am sure the requester does not mean it to be. Why would you want to be my friend if you do not know me and you live in Florida and I live in Pennsylvania? I recently received one of these requests from a very creepy gentleman who added a message to the request. It said "Can I know you?" not "Do I know you?" but can I......soooooo creepy. Really dude? I responded "No you can not" and deleted his request. I then boosted security on my house because I am pretty sure he is a serial killer who works as a clown on weekends.

Gnomes - They are cute. So cute that they made a cute little movie about them. Really they are creepy little stalkers who stare at you when you leave your house at five thirty in the morning to go to work. I can't help but hope I locked the door because I am pretty sure the one with the blue hat is going to kill my dog for peeing on him. Don't even try telling me that the pointy hat he wears is not a weapon. Look at it....just look at it.

Extreme eye contact/No eye contact - Normal eye is polite. Extreme eye contact or no eye contact is creepy! Have you ever spoken to someone who looked everywhere but your face? And I am not talking about creepy guys who look at your breasts I mean they look up. They look at something in the distance. They look at the wall. The ceiling. Anywhere but at you. It is very uncomfortable and creepy. And to the extreme those people who maintain constant eye contact. Like they are trying to hypnotize you. Its almost impossible to break eye contact with them because your body goes in to survival mode and you fear that if you blink or look away the person will cut your throat. Weirdos!

Baby Dolls that look real - You all know and love my Charlotte. She is one creepy doll. Her creepiness is in a fun sort of way. Have you ever seen those dolls that are made to look like real babies? Holy Shit they are creepy. I am sure they are meant to be  cute. And honestly the artistry is amazing but.....Wow I would not want one in my house!

So how about you? What do you think is creepy that wasn't meant to be?

I never do what I say I am going to

I always say I am going to do something and then.......

I don't
I have no idea why I do this to myself
I say I am going to finish reading something
and then I don't
I say I am going to write
and then I don't
I say I am going to stop at just two cookies
and then I don't
I say I am going to eat more vegetables
and then I don't
I say I am going to stop buying shoes
and then I don't
I say I am going to work harder
and then I don't
I say I am going to call my Mom more
and then I don't
Why do I do this?
I don't know
Maybe I have a complete lack of motivation
I work all day and then plan on doing these things when I get home
but then the sofa calls my name and the next thing I know its time to go to bed
I lay there and chastise myself for accomplishing nothing and promise myself that
tomorrow is another do
but it just ends up like the day before
wake up
drop boy off at school
go to work
drive home
eat dinner
do homework with boy or help him study for a test or whatever
walk into Mom Cave
grab remote
watch TV
go to bed
It is really sad

I need to figure out how to get out of this slump!
Winter is coming and that usually severely decreases my motivation.

Do you have any ideas?
What can I do to break free of this melancholy that has me by the throat?
