Summertime is not for writing

So I had all of these big plans for this summer.
I was going to write everyday and be able to have a first draft by the end of August.
Do you want to know how far I got?
It almost too embarrassing to say..........
Nowhere....I got nowhere
The pool distracted me
The weather distracted me
Amber being home from college distracted me with videos of british boys that she is in love with and trying make me watch a very Potter musical with her and making me play Glee karaoke on Wii and introducing me to Tumblr
The boy being out of school distracted me with watching him swim in the pool and building legos and jumping on the trampoline (which I do until I pee my pants and then he tells me to get off) and catching lightning bugs and going to the movies and watching Falling Skies and Ancient Aliens and shooting BB Guns and playing with Perry

I was really pissed at myself for these distractions
but then I realized
You know
Summer is not for writing.
Summer is for reading
Don't argue with me about this okay?
Cause its either I believe this statement or I give up all together
So shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have a new plan
A fall plan if you will
I promise myself that
Beginning September 9th I will focus completely on writing
I will write everyday
I will find a writing buddy or someone who will read each chapter for me
(any volunteers let me know)
***ahem.... Stacey***

I won't look at this as a total loss
I can look at all the reading I have done as "research"

So I intend to consume as many books as possible this month
If you have any to recommend to me let me know

First Up
My first blog friend Samantha Sotto's book comes out tomorrow
I am beyond excited to read it

Did you have big plans this summer that you failed to accomplish?.....please say yes I would hate to be the only one.
And if you have any recommendations for me please drop me a comment or an email!

Have a Magical Monday!

Im finding summer really hard too. Thankfully I got a first draft finished before summer began but my revisions are really lagging.

Well, you know, hopefully, within the next couple of weeks, I will have a book to recommend. :)

And I haven't gotten as much accomplished as I intended, either.
Dang kids!

If it is of any help I haven't written either. Am happy to be one of your writing buddy in September!

I'm right there with you! I was so pumped up at the beginning of summer and was sure I would write a whole book. Instead, I've written about 10 pages. I think you're right, summer isn't for writing! I'm planning for a more productive fall too.

Deborah - Thanks that does make me feel better
Creepy - Damn I wish I would have thought to do that.
Andrew - I would be happy to read your work
Muriel - Hey thanks that sounds like a plan!
Julie - Maybe we can keep each other on track this fall.

YES!
Let's make a deal!
Summer sucks for me for writing, too, something about being mom and all 24-7 (ha, b/c that stops in the fall.....hahahahahahaha) and so.....

let's work out a fall agreement, shall we????????
YIKES!
